Nicholas Bertino
Grateful for the experiences and people who guided him through his journey as a musician, Mr. Bertino decided to follow his father's footsteps, a former school band director for 30 years. His father was his primary influence, taking him to many music events. Observing and later working with his father gave him a great understanding of how a high school band program should run.
Mr. Bertino studied the clarinet and earned his Bachelor of Music Education at UW-Whitewater.
Growing up in the suburbs, he loved the pop punk genre and was fortunate to live close to Chicago where he attended concerts often.
He is a lover of jazz, rock, classical, and punk music. He enjoys golfing, fishing, and being with family and friends. During the summer, you'll find Mr. Bertino directing the East Troy Community Band on the Village Square.
MS & HS Choir, MS General Music
Michael Treder
Growing up in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Mr. Treder has been immersed in music since he was a child. Inspired by music from video games he played, Mr. Treder learned to write and create music electronically, which he now teaches in his General Music classes.
Mr. Treder earned his Bachelor of Music Education at UW-Stevens Point. He sings tenor and plays the euphonium, in addition to other instruments at more of a basic level.
He was inspired by experiences he had in honors choirs while in school. In particular, Sharon Hansen, Professor at UW-Milwaukee, showed him that choir could be more than just a fun group to perform in, but a passionate community sharing and spreading the joy of life and music.
Outside the classroom, Mr. Treder enjoys spending time with nature, running, performing, and playing board games and video games with friends.
K-5 General Music
Madison Hahne
Growing up in Burlington, Wisconsin, Ms. Hahne dreamed of being a music teacher ever since she was in kindergarten, and now she's living her dream!
After earning a double major in Music Education and Vocal Performance at UW-Platteville, Ms. Hahne began her teaching career in Fond du Lac in 2019, then accepted her current position in East Troy in 2020.
Besides singing and dancing, she enjoys running, skiing, camping, and being around freinds and family.
Ms. Hahne is a soprano voice part and loves to sing opera. She also plays piano, ukulele, and of course the recorder. Teaching music is her passion and she loves what she does!
MS Band
Joseph Arendt
Mr. Arendt has always been involved in musical ensembles ever since he picked up his first instrument. From participating in concert bands, jazz, brass quintets, marching bands, and even a steel drum band, Mr. Arendt always found a way to connect to music and share his passion for the musical arts through teaching. Mr. Arendt received his Bachelor of Music in Secondary Instrumental Music Education at Western Michigan Univ where he was the principal Tubist and Section Leader in the marching band. Mr. Arendt has been fortunate to march on not one, but two NFL stadiums at both Ford Field and AT&T Stadium. After teaching for three years in the UP, Mr. Arendt pursued his Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting at UW-Milwaukee where he conducted the University Bands and was the principal Tubist for the Wind ensemble and Symphony Orchestra. Outside the classroom, he enjoys exploring hiking trails, spending time with friends and family, weightlifting and playing with his cats, Frankie and Gus.
